Adakah Bayi Kita Perlukan Baby Walker...

Salam Semanis Kurma bt semua....

Harini hari ke 5 berpuasa...saya hny jamu mata jek dgn juadah berbuka puasa...al maklum la tgh brpantng..en. suami berbuka di rumah mak mertua saya...sambal pecal katanya..em..lg la panas hati sy...sambal pecal kegemaran saya...x pernah sy menolak tiap kali mak masak dan ajak makan...itulah sambal pecal yg buat saya jatuh hati nak makn pecal..tapi hanya yg mak mertua saya masak...kt tmpat lain, saya x layan...heeee...(bukan la x sedap tp may b x brape kene dgn tekak sy kot..)
Hari ni saya nk share ttg baby walker...ramai antara mommies kt luar sana yg gunakn ni kn..termasuk la saya...mak mertua saya gunakan walker utk irfan masa irfan brusia 4 bln lbh....masa tu sy tingglkn irfan dlm jagaan mereka...katanya senang nk jaga dan ank akn lbh cpt brjalan..berat hati saya tp saya telankn jua...x berani nk bersuara krn ilmu sy juga kurang waktu tu..Saya x la menyalahkn sesiapa..salah saya krn nk belajar/mencari maklumat/ilmu trlebih dahulu...jadi sy hny ikutkn jek...tp baru2 ni adik saya ade bertanya kpd doktor...pantas doktor tu memberi amaran agar x gunakan walker pada baby sebelum dia boleh memapah/brdiri kerana
(1) mengganggu perkembangan bayi dimana bayi akan menjadi kurang fokus
(2) pertumbuhan muscles yg x baik dan masalah untuk balancekn badan..

Terkejut saya dgn apa yg adik sy bgtau..saya pn mencari maklumat yg lbh bnyk ttg bahaya meng gunakn baby walker..Anta yg saya dpt drpd blog ash anas (thanx asha for sharing) dan juga babycenter.com, menurut pediatrician, David Geller

"studies have shown that babies who use a walker may actually learn to walk about a month later than those who don't. Walkers allow babies to move around before they are physically ready for it, which can cause unusual movement patterns and delayed muscle control. Babies learn to walk in part by watching and understanding how their feet and legs move. If a walker has a tray, they can't see what's happening with their lower body and don't get the information they need about their motor development. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends against using walkers not only because they can discourage your child from learning to walk on his own, but also because they can be dangerous. Thousands of babies end up in emergency rooms and doctor's offices from falling down stairs or bumping into furniture while in a walker. Walkers can give parents a false impression that their babies are truly mobile and can control their actions. Some parents even leave their babies alone to navigate their way around the home in a walker. Exersaucers, as well as door jumpers, are much safer alternatives, but none of these options will help your child learn to walk earlier than usual.

Antaranya

"Since the days when my first son was an infant, we have learned that walkers are detrimental
to normal development. Because the babies can get around too easily, their urge to move
across the floor is satisfied, and many of them will not undertake the important task of
crawling, creeping, scooting, or hitching. This stage is important for developing strength and
coordination.

Many parents think that walkers will help children learn to walk. As it turns out, walkers interfere with learning to walk. In addition to decreasing the desire to walk by providing an easier alternative, walkers strengthen the wrong muscles. The lower legs are strengthened, but the upper legs and hips become relatively weak. The upper legs and hips are most important for walking.

Moreover, children in walkers have more accidents than their counterparts. Walkers often tip over when a child bumps into a small toy or the edge of a rug. They are also more likely to take a dangerous fall down a flight of stairs.

Menurut satu kajian, walker juga boleh menyebabkn back pain later in life..ini kerana walker boeh mengganggu dan mengerakan muscle yg salah...(more info..click here)

Nice one Wa! Kalau tanya mana2 paed pun mmg tak encourage guna walker. Orang2 tua mmg suka walker, buai supaya senang kerja kata diaorg. Tapi kesan jangka panjang tuh yg tak syok di dengar....

Anyway, aku pun tak nak guna walker untuk Adam, walaupun kadang2 hati rasa teruja jugak nak beli bila tengok walker yg comel2 tuh.... :))
